St John's Crisis Centre is seeking a compassionate and experienced Social Worker to join our dedicated team supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, and financial hardship.
This role involves providing direct support to vulnerable members of the community, assisting with crisis intervention, referrals, and running programs that help people rebuild stability and independence.
About the Role
You will work closely with clients facing complex challenges including homelessness, domestic violence, financial stress, and social isolation. The role includes case management, advocacy, and supporting community programs delivered through the Centre.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide crisis support and case management for people experiencing homelessness and hardship.
* Support individuals and families affected by domestic and family violence.
* Conduct client assessments and develop support plans.
* Connect clients with housing services, counselling, legal support and other community resources.
* Assist in the development and delivery of support programs and community initiatives.
* Maintain accurate case notes and client records.
* Work collaboratively with the Centre team and external service providers.
* Provide general support within the Centre as required.
About You
* Degree in Social Work
* AASW registration must be obtained within 6 months of commencement
* Experience working with homelessness, crisis support, or domestic violence services highly regarded.
* Minimum 1-2 years experience in social work or related field
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to manage complex and sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
* Knowledge of local support services and referral pathways.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
