THE ORGANISATION
The Yinhawangka Aboriginal Corporation (ICN 7837) (YAC) is the Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC) for the Yinhawangka People. YAC manages the native title rights and interests of the Yinhawangka People whose native title determination is in the central Pilbara region of Western Australia with significant historical and current mining activities. YAC's mission is to support the cultural, social, and economic wellbeing of the Yinhawangka People while ensuring the protection of Yinhawangka land and heritage.
THE ROLE
This newly created position will report to the CEO and provide day-to-day leadership of the native title, land and heritage functions while helping to strengthen member engagement and build trusted relationships across the community. In addition to ensuring the organisation effectively exercises and protects the Native Title rights and interests of the Yinhawangka People, this role will translate Native Title rights, statutory responsibilities, and agreement commitments into coordinated operational programs such as the Ranger Program, Member Services, and Living Cultures.
REQUIREMENTS
For success in this role, you will bring high cultural intelligence and significant experience working in native title or heritage management. You will bring a structured and decisive approach and a strong working knowledge of the Native Title Act, cultural heritage legislation and agreement implementation environments. You will be an experienced leader with a track record managing complex operational portfolios and leading multidisciplinary teams, and you will be comfortable providing high-level advice to Boards and senior executives. Strong stakeholder engagement skills across Traditional Owners, proponents and regulators will be essential, along with experience managing compliance, risk and operational planning systems.
IN RETURN
A competitive base salary of circa $210,000 to $240,000, depending on experience, plus superannuation, is available on a permanent contract. The role will be predominantly Perth-based with regular travel across the State.
