About the Role
Our client is seeking a Senior Designer – URD to serve as a technical leader within their design team, responsible for managing the delivery of complex subdivision and power distribution designs. This role is central to maintaining technical excellence, ensuring compliance with Energex and DNSP standards, and supporting the development of junior team members.
The Senior Designer acts as a key point of contact for authorities and clients, contributes to design governance, and supports the pathway toward RPEQ-level engineering responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development of advanced and complex URD subdivision and infrastructure designs.
* Provide technical oversight, including verification and quality assurance, for designs completed by other team members.
* Mentor and coach junior designers, supporting both technical development and professional growth.
* Liaise with Energex, local councils, and other authorities to ensure design compliance and secure necessary approvals.
* Manage the scope, budget, and schedule of assigned design projects.
* Identify and implement improvements in design processes, tools, and standards.
* Support RPEQ engineers with certification tasks and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
* 3–5 years of experience in electrical design for subdivisions and URD projects.
* Strong working knowledge of:
* Energex Supply & Planning Manual
* QECM and QEMM
* Relevant DNSP standards
* Solid understanding of AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules).
* High-level proficiency in LVDrop, Perfect Light, AGI32, Poles & Wires, and AutoCAD.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience dealing directly with clients and regulatory bodies.
