Your new role
As the Work Health and Safety Officer, you will play a key role in embedding, monitoring, and continuously improving WHS performance across active civil construction projects. You will support both site teams and senior management to ensure compliance is adhered to, while promoting a strong and practical safety culture.This is a hands-on role well suited to a safety professional with experience in complex civil construction environments.Key responsibilities include:
1. Implementing and maintaining WHS systems aligned with legislative requirements
2. Supporting site teams with risk assessments, SWMS, and safety planning
3. Conducting site inspections, audits, and incident investigations
4. Providing WHS advice to Project Managers and supervisors
5. Contributing to continuous improvement and safety initiatives
6. Assisting with reporting and assurance obligations under Head Contractor arrangements.
What you'll need to succeed
7. Proven experience as a WHS Officer in civil construction environments
8. Strong understanding of WHS legislation and safety obligations in construction
9. Experience working on Defence and/or Government projects (highly regarded)
10. Cert IV in WHS or equivalent qualification
11. Ability to engage positively with site-based teams
12. Strong communication, reporting, and organisational skills
13. Eligibility to obtain or hold relevant security clearances
