Position Information
Swansea Public School is situated on the pristine land and waterways of the Awabakal people. We are a school committed to maintaining high expectations in an inclusive, collaborative learning environment. Our dynamic staff place students at the centre of decision making to ensure excellence and equity for all.
The school operates with nine mainstream classes, structured to support a stage team approach. With a current enrolment of 200 students including 57 proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, we work in close partnership with the P&C, Minimbah AECG, and the Galgabba community of schools
Staff, parents and the community have a strong collective commitment to empowering every child to achieve their educational cultural and social aspirations. Our school is a recognised leader in restorative practice and is heavily committed to working with our students to provide the exceptional standard of education and opportunity they deserve.
General Selection Criteria
* High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
* Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
* High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
* Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
* Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
* Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,
* Evidence of highly approachable and visible leadership which can enhance a culture of inclusion and authentic connections with students, parents, staff and the wider school community.
* Demonstrated experience in facilitating and providing high level professional learning to enhance staff capacity to successfully deliver the Department’s Plan for Public Education and strategic priorities.
* Demonstrated commitment and capacity to enhance student and staff wellbeing and foster genuine relationships to build team efficacy.
* Capacity to enhance the reputation of Public Education and work closely with the wider school community to enhance the school’s image for excellence, engagement and inclusivity.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Classification Structure For Principals
The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2025.
