About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Operations Manager – Systems & Infrastructure Response (SIR) to lead the SIR Team operating across the M1 network.
Reporting to the Head of Response and Engineering Monitoring, this role is responsible for leading a high‐performing technical team, driving safe and efficient service delivery, and ensuring strong operational, safety and asset management outcomes in a 24/7 rail environment.
You will lead the development, management and continuous improvement of the SIR Team, with accountability for operational performance, safety leadership, workforce planning, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Lead and develop the SIR Team, fostering a culture of accountability, performance and continuous improvement
* Oversee operational processes, procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance and consistency
* Manage corrective and preventative maintenance work orders and backlog reduction initiatives
* Provide technical support for fault investigation and resolution
* Ensure accurate asset, compliance and configuration management documentation
* Demonstrate visible safety leadership and embed a strong safety ‐ first culture
* Manage rostering, workforce planning, budgets and procurement activities
* Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Desired Skills And Experience
About You
You are a confident people leader with experience in rail operations, maintenance or a comparable asset‐intensive, safety‐regulated industry.
You bring strong operational judgement, a structured approach to planning and problem‐solving, and a commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
You Will Also Possess The Following
* Diploma or higher qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline; or
* Recognised qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) by an MTS-approved Registered Training Organisation, to Diploma level equivalent qualification.
* Minimum 3 years' experience in rail operations, rail maintenance, or a closely related asset-intensive/regulated industry (e.g., transport, utilities, heavy industry) with comparable safety and reliability requirements.
