Each is built to last over 100 years and provides water with more than 95% annual reliability.The RoleThe Environmental Advisor – Projects, plays a key role in ensuring that Tasmanian Irrigation's infrastructure projects adhere to environmental permits and regulations, mitigate risks, and maintain compliance throughout the project lifecycle.In addition to providing support and advice to the project team during the project and construction planning phases, this role involves onsite auditing and monitoring of contractor compliance during construction of schemes.Key Roles and ResponsibilitiesProvide input into the development of Construction Environmental Management Plans.Conduct regular environmental audits and compliance inspections at construction sites.Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with Commonwealth and State environmental approvals, regulations, and project requirements.Work closely with project managers and construction teams to identify and address environmental risks.Provide guidance and support on environmental best practices during construction planning and delivery phase.Liaise with regulatory bodies and contractors to ensure compliance with environmental permits and approvals.Review and approve contractor environmental documentation, including permits, reports, and studies.Conduct environmental incident investigations and implement corrective actions as required.Provide environmental training and awareness programs for construction teams.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote environmental stewardship and sustainability.Assist with other project duties as directed by the Environmental Lead – Projects & Approvals.About YouYou are a people-focused, pragmatic problem solver with a strong commitment to environmental best practices and a passion for supporting the long-term sustainability of the agriculture sector.Success in this role requires collaboration, adaptability, and a shared commitment to high standards. You’ll work closely with a cohesive team that values practical solutions and continuous improvement.Given the field-based nature of the role, you must be comfortable with the physical demands of site inspections across construction areas. Regular travel across varied terrain and weather conditions is required, so a valid driver’s licence and confidence driving in remote locations are essential.Required Skills and ProficienciesTertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or related field.Experience in implementing Construction Environmental Management Plans.Comprehensive understanding of Federal and State environmental protection laws and permitting processes related to construction projects.Experience in conducting environmental audits and compliance inspections in a construction setting.Demonstrated stakeholder management skills.Excellent organisational and project management skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Familiarity with GISDrivers LicenceDesirableAccreditation in environmental auditingProject management experienceRewards and CultureYou will have the opportunity to influence the organisation’s future growth which will make a visible impact right across Tasmania.
