Western Health has an excellent reputation for providing Graduate Nurse/Midwives with a smooth transition to practice from student to Registered Nurse/Midwife.The Combined Graduate Nurse/Midwife Program, in its first year, offers early career support rotating across the continuum of pregnancy care and a nursing rotation. Graduates have the opportunity to participate in the Grad + Program int their 2nd year, undertaking two theoretical postgraduate equivalent subjects and options for additional rotations. This Program is offered at 64hrs per fortnight (0.84FTE).Four intakes are offered in 2026 - February, April, July and September.Western Health can offer you:A supportive program completing rotations across the continuum of pregnancy care and within a Nursing UnitA comprehensive on-boarding plan, regular debriefing sessions and study daysCommencement of career development pathways and post graduate studyOngoing employment in Maternity services (part-time or casual)Ongoing education and career advancement opportunitiesThis program will be supported by Clinical Midwifery and Nursing Educators and Clinical Support Midwives.Key responsibilitiesAssess and document clinical, non clinical and social needs, identifying at risk patients implementing risk minimisation strategiesRecognise and respond to changes in patient conditions, escalate care when necessary and document variations accordinglyMaintain accurate, legible and legally compliant documentation per Western Health policiesCommunicate patient status effectively during handoversAdvocate for patients and families with supportDeliver safe, high quality evidence based careEssential CriteriaCompletion of an Undergraduate Double Degree in Midwifery & Nursing in 2025.To ApplyApplicants are asked to complete a three-step process:Step 1: Apply to PMCV (gnmp.pmcv.com.au) using the Computer Match system, listing Western Health amongst your preferences.Step 2: Apply to Western Health using the online process.
