Senior clinician

State of Victoria
Posted: 6 June
Offer description

Lead a dynamic team helping justice-involved young people turn their lives around. Enjoy challenging, meaningful clinical work in a safe and supported environment. Earn $128,635 - $140,849 per year, plus super. Sponsorship of industry membership and opportunities to represent at conferences. If you're passionate about clinical work with young people and are looking to join a dedicated team that values your expertise, supports creativity and encourages professional growth, you'll thrive at Statewide Rehabilitation Services (SRS).

Across our community offices and custodial facilities, our team gives young people involved in the justice system the consistent clinical care they need to rebuild their lives. As one of our senior clinicians, you will manage a dedicated team to create positive change and help young people rebuild their lives in partnership with families and communities. Using evidence‐informed practice, you will guide them through life‐changing shifts in mindset, behaviour, and self‐belief and empower them to make positive choices, learn new skills to reduce harmful behaviours and stay on track.

It's complex and challenging work. But it's work that makes a real difference both to young people's futures and to our state's safety. We are currently recruiting for opportunities at our Malmsbury precinct, offering a great work/life balance in the countryside of central Victoria. We also offer a $10K relocation allowance for eligible candidates who are thinking of moving to within an hour's drive of the facility.

Responsibilities

* Work within a forensic framework with young people who engage in serious offending behaviour and may present as a moderate to high risk of reoffending.
* Use your skills and judgement to lead a team in providing therapeutic intervention to young people with complex needs and build respectful, supportive relationships.
* Help develop a strong team culture where peer support and collaboration are central to success.
* Take part in regular training and development, with one day each month dedicated to your learning.

Benefits

Our clinicians will tell you that the work here is its own reward. This is a unique opportunity to provide continued support to young people, working across a variety of youth justice settings.

However, there are also many other benefits of a clinical career in youth justice, including:

* A comprehensive clinical induction.
* Opportunities for further professional development.
* Sponsorship of your professional membership such as AHPRA or AASW.
* Ongoing support, with both informal and formal clinical and operational supervision.

Qualifications

If you have a professional clinical background and experience managing teams – as well as experience in forensic assessment and intervention – we encourage you to apply for this opportunity.

This could be the start of career defining work with real purpose.

We recruit qualified practitioners with professional membership or general registration in:

* psychology
* mental health nursing
* social work
* occupational therapy

Travel between our custodial precincts, and community centres may be required.

For more information on the skills we look for in new senior clinicians, please read the position description document attached.

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply and contact Aboriginalworkforce@justice.vic.gov.au if they would like cultural support and guidance through the application process.

CHILD SAFE STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT: The Department of Justice and Community Safety is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. We seek to prevent harm of any kind impacting children and young people and have zero tolerance for racism, child abuse and inequality. Children and young people's rights, relationships, identity, and culture must be recognised and respected, their voices heard, and their concerns acted upon. We aim to foster a culturally safe, child safe and child friendly environment for all children and young people we have contact with, deliver services to, or are impacted by our work.
