Overview
Group Marketing and Corporate Affairs (MCA) helps drive CBA's brand and reputation, working closely with the business to deliver insight and creativity to engage our customers, communities and broader stakeholders. MCA works across all areas of the Group as a trusted partner to engage and influence stakeholders to build equity in the brand, increase CBA's competitive advantage and support the Group's business success and market value.
Government and Industry Affairs advances and protects CBA's interests by informing policy development in an evidence-based manner, encouraging the adoption of policies that align with CBA's values and strategic objectives. The team also engages with federal and state politicians, government departments and relevant industry associations.
Your role
Your role is to support the development and implementation of corporate affairs and stakeholder engagement strategies to build trust, enhance reputation and inspire advocacy for the Group.
Responsibilities
* Join a high-impact team that connects CBA with government, regulators, and industry bodies to shape public policy. Help protect and advance the Group's interests through strategic engagement and policy development.
* Strategic & Corporate Affairs Support
* Contribute to the development of Corporate Affairs strategies that enhance CBA's reputation and influence.
* Track performance metrics and support planning aligned to key priorities and campaigns.
* Research & Analysis
* Conduct policy analysis and assess the political landscape to inform decision-making.
* Analyse the impact of regulatory changes on CBA's operations and stakeholders.
* Parliamentary & Scheduling Support
* Monitor parliamentary schedules and hearings relevant to CBA's interests.
* Assist in preparing executives for parliamentary inquiries and government engagements.
* Policy & Government Engagement
* Develop public policy positions and respond to government inquiries across a portfolio of issues.
* Prepare high-quality briefs for executive meetings and parliamentary appearances.
* Monitor political and policy developments to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
* Stakeholder Engagement
* Build and maintain relationships with regulators, government agencies, industry associations (e.g. the Australian Banking Association), media outlets, and community organisations.
* Support senior team members in managing political stakeholder relationships.
Qualifications
* Risk mindset – All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.
* High-level conceptual and analytical skills and exceptional verbal and written communication capability.
* Discretion and maturity in dealing with sensitive issues and ability to build relationships across a broad set of stakeholders.
* Commercial acumen to discern potential impacts of policy changes on the business and reconcile conflicting internal responses to proposed policy changes.
* Strong understanding of the machinery of government, including direct experience liaising with government departments and parliamentary offices.
* Experience in the day-to-day management of policy issues, either within Government or a listed company, including timely advice and preparation of accurate responses within deadlines.
* Excellent planning and delivery skills.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
* Tertiary degree with excellent results in economics, law, political science or other relevant discipline.
