ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Sports Coordinator North Metro Melbourne, the Sports Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering a diverse range of sport and recreation programs in wide-ranging settings such as high schools, community centres and other public spaces. The Sports Coordinator will be responsible for managing the Whittlesea LGA but will also work with the North Metro team to deliver programming in the region more broadly.

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this role you will need:

- qualification from a recognised TAFE / University including certificate level 3 Diploma or Degree in Sport and Recreation, Community Development or similar and/or

- minimum of two years’ experience in delivering services / programs in Sport and Recreation, Community Development, Health and Wellbeing or Youth.

- understanding of and experience in administrative support systems.

- high level of verbal and written communication skills.

- proven ability to communicate effectively with and deliver successful programs to people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, women and girls.

- demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with government and partner agencies, community organisations and service providers.

- demonstrated ability to work harmoniously and constructively in a team setting with minimal supervision.

- proven ability to take the initiative, work independently, honestly and respectfully with diverse individuals and groups.

- good level of IT knowledge (inc Microsoft Office, online conferencing, social media and promotion).

- demonstrated ability to be highly organised with the capacity to work effectively within tight time constraints.

You will stand out if you have:

- Previous experience delivering programs in community settings, especially to those from CALD backgrounds, women and girls, people with disability, people recovering from addiction, people suffering homelessness or housing insecurity or people having had intersection with the criminal justice system.

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues faced by diverse communities and those experiencing barriers to participation in sport and recreation.

- Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships within community networks.

- Experience in delivering Sport and Recreation sessions as a coach, teacher, or instructor.

This is maximum term appointment commencing immediately working 30 hrs per week as a part-time employee with an end date 30th June 2027. A competitive remuneration will be paid at SCHaDS Level 3.1 plus superannuation with the option to increase your income through salary packaging.
