About the Service
National Immigration Support Service (NISS) provides culturally safe, trauma‐informed support to asylum seekers and refugees living in the Australian community. We assist individuals and families to navigate complex systems, empowering them to reach their goals, one step at a time.
About the Role
We are seeking Case Coordinators to expand our national services. The primary responsibility is to assess clients, gather information, and guide them through application procedures to ensure they receive the support they need. The role is an intake position that involves responsive and tailored case coordination services to help clients meet identified goals and overcome barriers to independence.
Responsibilities
* Proactively work with clients towards meaningful engagement.
* Assist clients to progress towards their personal development goals.
* Develop and implement high‐quality Case Plans that respond to changing needs and identified goals.
* Provide referrals to support services, ensuring compliance with funding body expectations and key performance indicators.
* Deliver high‐quality service to enable clients to connect meaningfully to the community.
* Collaborate with clients to create program and personal goals.
* Conduct comprehensive client assessments to determine eligibility.
* Guide clients through the application process to ensure completeness.
* Offer information about existing social services and community resources.
* Advocate for clients and meticulously document interactions.
* Coordinate referrals to supplementary support services as required.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Human Services or related discipline (Diploma level and above).
* Strong case coordination experience in Human Services, including needs assessments and implementation of care plans.
* Demonstrated ability to support individuals, families, and groups from a strengths‐based and culturally appropriate perspective.
* Well‐developed written and verbal communication skills.
* Skill in comprehensive, high‐quality assessments (financial, health, housing, social, vocational, and educational status).
* Ability to manage clients with complex physical and mental health concerns.
* Clear understanding of clients' required supports and treatment plans.
* Ability to build rapport with clients from CALD backgrounds.
* Strong stakeholder management experience.
* Understanding of current casework practice for refugee, asylum seeker, and CALD clients.
Required Skills & Experience
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check where relevant to the role.
