Billing Specialist

About the Role

What you'll be doing:
Make certain that Perth Energy's clients receive accurate billing as per their agreement, energy consumption, and relevant pricing structure.- Billing System Management, set up and maintain accurate customer accounts and data in the billing system, including various charges and rates like CPI, Western Power, AEMO, and ATCO fees. Ensure automated billing system accuracy and timely information availability.- Meter Data Oversight, validate meter data from energy providers (e.g., Western Power, ATCO), promptly addressing errors. Maintain an issues log for quick identification and resolution of errors to ensure accurate energy usage for billing.- Invoicing & Statements, Generate precise invoices and statements as per procedures. Log issues for escalation to Senior Billing Specialist. Invoice Adjustments, process auto-adjustments and manual changes in the billing system. Verify adjustments for accuracy and correct billing.- Market Charges & Validation, reconcile market charges based on market rules and tariff calculations. Validate network provider invoices and manage disputes if needed (Western Power, AEMO, ATCO).- Receipt and Allocate Customer payments - obtain bank statements, customer remittance advices and cheques to allocate customer payments into the billing system in a timely manner.- Resolve Queries Relating to Payments - answer queries from Credit team and customers relating to account balances and payment allocation queries. Assist with offsite Treasury team queries relating to clearing banking transactions.- Knowledge - Develop and maintain good understanding of the energy (Gas and Electricity) retail cost structure (including network, capacity, renewable and energy charges), all relevant agreements/terms (i.e. Pricing Models, Electricity Supply Agreement, Commercial Terms and Conditions of Supply) and knowledge of market conditions, promotional programs, competitive products and marketing practices to ensure customers are provided with accurate and up to date information and advice.

About You

What you'll bring to the table:
- Preferably experienced in billing and accounting practices. Advantageous to have worked in energy or similar regulated sectors.- Software Proficiency, skilled in using computerized billing systems (e.g., Gentrack Velocity, SAP) and Microsoft Office tools.- Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills, to enable effective investigation and resolution or errors and anomalies. Strong procedural documentation skills.- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills, Strong analytical abilities for effective issue resolution and troubleshooting.- Team Orientation & Communication, Collaborative and approachable, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.- Excellent time management, prioritising, and planning skills.- Proactive and professional work ethic, with sound decision making skills.
