The role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team based in Bibra Lake in a fixed term contract for 9-12 months. In this hands-on role, you will support the Finance Manager by delivering accurate financial reporting, managing payroll and statutory obligations, and contributing to strong financial controls. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business, playing a key role in supporting informed decision-making and continuous improvement within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities:
* Timely completion of allocated month-end close tasks as per month end close schedule finalised by the Finance Manager
* Month end project accounting including Job gross profit review, WIP, and Job cost accruals in consultation with contract and project managers
* Monthly management reporting including the preparation of associated commentary to assist in decision making
* Deliver accurate P&L forecasting through partnering with operations team
* Assist project managers in the preparation of accurate cost to complete forecasting
* Budget – work with management to prepare and consolidate the annual budget
* Auditor engagement – assist the finance manager to ensure consolidated financial statements are audited and finalised no later than four months of financial year end
* Corporate tax – assist the finance manager to prepare and process quarterly corporate tax and deferred tax provisions entries and liaise with external tax agent to finalise and lodge annual corporate tax returns for all entities as per ATO guidelines and pay outstanding corporate tax liability on time
* Review all indirect tax returns i.e. BAS, state payroll tax and FBT. Ensure they are lodged as per due dates and outstanding amounts paid on time
* Review fortnightly payroll and ensure it is processed on time
* Be part of UAT for the Integration of new systems
* Mentor direct reports, provide guidance, training and performance feedback to achieve high level of productivity and professionalism
* Prepare and present meaningful performance reports and dashboards for senior leadership.
* Drive process improvements and automation in financial decision-making and governance.
* Ensure the finance team completes all month end GL Account reconciliations as per deadlines
The Ideal Candidate:
* A commercial mindset, collaborate closely with operations with ability to challenge operations thinking constructively and influence key decisions.
* A degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field. CPA or CA qualifications preferred.
* Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; experience with Business Central or similar is desirable but not essential
* Excellent time-management and organisational skills
* Able to work both autonomously and in a team environment
* 7 plus years' experience in finance and accounting
