AI Enablement and Delivery Officer * Salary: 113,022 - $136,747 (Plus superannuation) * Fixed-term position for 2 years * Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available) * Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 (flexibility may be available) The Role We are seeking a motivated AI Enablement and Delivery Officer to drive the successful delivery and sustainable adoption of AI solutions across the department. By aligning business priorities with digital capability and ethical innovation, the role ensures that AI initiatives are supported by business leaders, safely implemented, and effectively embedded into operational environments. The successful candidate will possess strong delivery skills, with the ability to understand business problems, shape them into AI-enabled solutions, and translate into meaningful outcomes. Success in this role relies on building strong cross-functional collaboration, working closely with technical teams, such as Digital workplace and cloud platforms, IT Infrastructure & Architecture, Cloud and Enterprise Platforms, as well as non-technical areas including Security, Risk and Governance. Main accountabilities: * Contribute to the development of the DJSIR AI Adoption Roadmap and support the delivery of AI initiatives that align with departmental strategic investment priorities. Actively engage stakeholders to align AI opportunities with business outcomes, taking a hands‑on role in shaping and validating AI solution concepts. * Develop and maintain collaborative relationships across IT and with interdepartmental and intradepartmental stakeholders to support alignment, coordination, and shared accountability in the delivery of AI initiatives. Collaborate with the Governance team to identify and mitigate risks early, ensuring smooth and secure implementation. Identify and support workforce capability needs by working with HR, IT and business leaders to co-design and co-deliver enablement and training activities. * Coordinate and contribute to the planning and delivery of AI initiatives, ensuring effective implementation of pilots, proof‑of‑concepts, and scalable solutions that align with strategic intent, business needs, architectural best practices and technical robustness. * Support assessment of departmental readiness for AI adoption by evaluating internal capability, technology maturity, data readiness and scalability. Provide analysis and advice to inform decision‑making on whether to build in‑house, procure externally, or co‑deliver with partners to ensure long‑term sustainability and value for money. * Champion user‑centric design and change adoption, helping ensure AI tools and processes are understood, accepted, and embedded into business-as‑usual operations through strong engagement, readiness planning and support activities. * Assist in defining and tracking performance metrics for AI initiatives to measure value delivered. Gather feedback, apply lessons learned, and contribute to continuous improvement in AI capability and repeatable delivery processes. The Team This position of AI Enablement and Delivery Officer forms a part of the Information Technology & Workplace Services branch, which sits under the Corporate Services group. The Corporate Services group consists of specialist functions including finance, investment and procurement, performance and governance, legal and legislation, people and culture, information technology and workplace services and emergency management. These functions enable the department to operate efficiently and effectively and support the Secretary and Ministers to meet legislative obligations and responsibilities whilst actively supporting the department's portfolio groups and Ministers to create the conditions for growing Victoria's prosperity, building the productive capacity of our economy, and increasing participation. About You To be successful in this role, you will have the following main skills and experience: * ​​ AI Capabilities and Technological Literacy: Demonstrates strong understanding of AI tools and trends, ethical AI principles, data privacy, and risk mitigation approaches in the public sector, with the ability to apply these in practical, scalable ways. Understands the strategic and operational impact of the internal IT environment and has a broad understanding of implementation activities involved in introducing and maintaining new digital technologies. Brings practical experience shaping, testing, and supporting the implementation of AI solutions using modern tools and frameworks. * Conceptual and Analytical Ability: Demonstrates strong conceptual thinking and confidently navigates complex issues. Applies analytical skills to assess problems, develop well reasoned solutions, and provide sound advice. Generates creative ideas and links them to innovative approaches, with the ability to prepare and present clear, evidence-based discussion papers, briefs, and reports. * Digital Delivery Experience: Demonstrates experience in the delivery of AI initiatives, with the proven ability to translate business needs into practical AI or automation solutions that deliver desired outcomes. Establishes effective delivery structures with clear success measures and governance. Skilled at shaping prototypes, guiding implementation, and ensuring alignment with architectural and data governance standards. * Working Collaboratively: Actively builds strong working relationships to foster a cooperative and supportive team environment. Engage with other teams to share information, enhance understanding, and respond effectively to issues. Identifies and pursues opportunities for cross team collaboration to achieve shared outcomes. Provides support and encouragement to colleagues, particularly in challenging or fast-paced situations. * Outcomes Thinking: Demonstrates a strong sense of purpose and aligns work with the strategic direction of the branch and broader department. Helps others understand how their contributions support departmental goals by creating clear links between daily activities, broader outcomes, and impact.
