About the Role
We are seeking reliable and professional Casual Roving Security Officers to support operations at an internationally renowned education institution – Australian Catholic University (ACT).
This is a casual, non-regular role with limited and irregular shifts, suitable for candidates seeking flexible, supplementary work. You will work across campus environments, providing a visible security presence and supporting safety, access control, and incident response as required.
In this role, you will interact with staff, students, visitors, and members of the public, delivering a calm, professional, and service-focused presence while maintaining awareness of safety and security risks.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Conduct foot patrols across campus to observe, report, and respond to incidents
* Provide a visible and professional security presence
* Monitor and manage access control points as required
* Respond to incidents, alarms, and requests for assistance
* Support emergency response procedures when required
* Deliver strong customer service to staff, students, and visitors
* Complete accurate incident reports and logs
* Work in line with ACU and ACESGroup WHS policies and procedures
Essential Criteria
* Current ACT Security Licence – Guard and/or Crowd Controller
* Current First Aid Certificate
* Working With Children Check
* Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
* Professional presentation and customer service approach
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Reliability and flexibility for ad hoc / occasional shifts
* Basic to intermediate computer skills
Desirable
* RSA – Responsible Service of Alcohol Competency Card
* Fire Warden (or willingness to obtain)
* Previous experience in education, campus, or public environments
