Reassembles and maintains equipment for daily use.
Cleans and sanitises work area and equipment throughout the workday.
Assists with wrapping meat and seafood, stocking the meat case, and arranging the display case.
Assesses the production needs and rotates merchandise.
Follows proper safety procedures and standards.
Maintains the sales area.
Job Duties/Essential FunctionsDismantles equipment, washes, rinses and sanitises removable parts of equipment and meat roomInspects and reassembles equipment, addresses any corrective actions from the previous nightReworks display case, filling and rotating merchandisePacks/wraps meat and seafood using automatic and manual wrapping machinesLabels merchandise and puts labelled/wrapped merchandise in display caseCompletes department paperwork as requiredPerforms weekly yield testsAdhere to all department Standard Operating ProceduresFollows Costco Meat Department general and specific meat standards, procedures and goalsCleans and sanitises work area throughout the dayFollows sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOP) guidelines for cleaning and sanitation of all equipment Completes and complies with 11 commandments of Quality assurances, Food Safety Certification, department specific training and all safety training required by warehouse and meat departmentComplies with health code by following sanitation standards and maintaining proper temperaturesStocks and rotates meat inside meat cooler/freezerRemoves rubbish from department and work areas.
Operates rubbish compactor and cardboard balerTransfers cases of meat from cooler to preparation areaCuts, trims, tenderises, grinds meat and checks fat content per Costco specificationFollows proper department production procedures and standards for quality and consistency of finished merchandiseAssists with other departments of the warehouseProvides and ensures prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees and vendorsAbility to operate vehicles, equipment or machineryComputer, copier, phone, band saw, tenderiser, grinder and wrapperQualifications (Costco-specific or industry specific skills that candidates should possess)Education/Training:High School Certificate or Trade Qualification (Butcher)Licenses/Certifications:Trade Qualification (Butcher)Experience/Skills:Butchery or comparable experienceStrong customer service, communication, interpersonal and organisation skillsProblem solving and critical thinkingAttention to detailOther specific requirementsFull COVID-19 vaccination or medical contraindications certificate* If successful, you will be required to undertake role & department specific training within specified timeframesProfessional confidentiality is assured for all applications received.
