Starship Navigation Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Starship Navigation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) team, you will be responsible for creating analysis tools, applications, and execution pipelines that enable vehicles to fly quickly, reliably, and robustly.
Key Responsibilities:
* Create software tools and applications for trajectory design, optimization, and dispersion analysis for Starship launch vehicle missions.
* Design and lead development of new software projects for GNC systems.
* Review existing tools and processes to drive more efficient or reliable approaches.
* Participate in all phases of a mission, from feasibility analysis and research to concrete mission design and launch operations.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, math, or scientific discipline.
* 2+ years in a software engineering role with experience in Python and Python-based development frameworks.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Experience in orbital mechanics, flight dynamics, classical dynamics, modeling, robotics, or simulation.
* Professional or academic experience with physics and/or software as it relates to the physical world.
* Strong competency in software development practices including testing and continuous integration.
* Professional experience in web applications development.
* Experience working directly on engineering or scientific computing problems.
* Educational or professional background in Guidance, Navigation, and Control.
* Demonstrated project or professional experience in launch vehicle and/or spacecraft systems.
* Professional experience with other programming languages such as C/C++ or JavaScript.
* Experience with high performance computing systems or large-scale data analysis systems.
* Focus on performance bottlenecks and performance improvement techniques.
