Geelong's oldest pub the Petrel Hotel is looking for an experienced Duty Manager to join our management team.
As a frontline leadership role responsible you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a business during a specific shift. Acting as the primary point of contact for staff and customers.
Key Responsibilities
* Operational Oversight: Supervising daily processes, maintaining facility cleanliness, and ensuring all departments run efficiently during the shift.
* Team Leadership: Assist in managing employee schedules, delegating tasks, and providing real-time coaching of the junior team members.
* Customer Service: Acting as the senior escalation point for guest complaints and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
* Safety & Security: Enforcing health and safety regulations, monitoring for hazards, and implementing emergency protocols if needed.
* Financial Management: Coordinating cash handling, processing transactions, managing refunds, and monitoring daily revenue reports.
* Inventory & Maintenance: Monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and scheduling regular cleaning.
Essential Skills
* Problem-Solving: The ability to resolve operational issues and staff conflicts quickly and effectively.
* Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for leading shift briefs, handling guest inquiries, and reporting to upper management.
* Time Management: Prioritising multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines and keep operations on track.
* Adaptability: Being flexible enough to work varied shifts, public holidays and handle unexpected challenges.
Requirements & Qualifications
* Experience: Most roles require at least 1–3 years of supervisory experience in hospitality, retail, or a similar customer-facing environment.
Certifications:
* Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol)
* First Aid Course (Preferred but not required)
