The Yass Soldiers Club is a growing, community-focused hospitality venue located in the heart of Yass, NSW. We pride ourselves on offering high-quality food and service to our members and guests, and we are now seeking a Pastry Chef (or experienced cook with strong pastry and dessert skills) to join our expanding kitchen team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is creative, reliable, and passionate about delivering exceptional desserts, pastries, and savouries in a professional and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, bake, and present a variety of pastries, cakes, slices, desserts, and savoury baked goods
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to create and refine dessert menus and specials for events and functions
- Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation across all pastry and dessert offerings
- Manage pastry section operations, including stock rotation, portion control, and food cost management
- Adhere to all food safety standards and maintain a clean, organised workstation
- Assist with broader kitchen operations as required during peak service periods
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Previous experience in pastry, bakery, or dessert preparation (experience in clubs, pubs, cafés, or restaurants in Australia highly regarded)
- Strong technical skills in baking and pastry, with a keen eye for detail and presentation
- Creativity to design and implement new desserts, cakes, and specials
- Ability to work independently with good time management, as well as collaboratively within a team
- Commitment to high standards of hygiene, food safety, and workplace professionalism
- Flexibility to work a roster that may include weekdays, weekends, and evenings
- Australian work rights are required for this position
