The Opportunity
As the Asset and Insurance Accountant at the City of Perth, you will manage the accuracy of non-current asset records and oversee the City's insurance portfolio, supporting financial reporting, audits, renewals and claims while ensuring compliance and effective risk management.
Reporting to the Financial Accounting Lead within our Transactional Finance team, your responsibilities would primarily include:
* Managing the City's assets, ensuring accurate records, depreciation, reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards.
* Supporting financial reporting and audits for assets and insurance, including schedules, reconciliations, and audit queries.
* Overseeing the City's insurance portfolio, coordinating renewals, managing claims, and advising on coverage and risk.
* Driving process improvement and governance, enhancing systems, controls, and long-term asset and risk management.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
* Asset accounting expertise – maintaining registers, processing transactions, and supporting audits to Australian Accounting Standards.
* Strong financial knowledge – applying accounting standards, legislation, and local government requirements.
* Systems proficiency – experienced with financial/asset management systems and Excel.
* Collaborative and detail-oriented skills – managing priorities, advising stakeholders, and holding (or eligible for) CPA/CA membership.
