Who We Are:
Aurukun State School is a Kindy to Year 12 school, located in the remote Indigenous community of Aurukun. Situated on the northwest coast of the Cape York Peninsula, Aurukun lies around 11 hours by road from Cairns and 2 hours from Weipa.
Home to a population of around 1,300 people, Aurukun is the traditional homeland of the Wik, Wik Waya, and Kugu people. The predominant traditional language spoken in the community is Wik Mungkan, which is the first language for most Aurukun children.
Step Into Your Next Chapter:
- Provide high-level strategic advice and operational support to the Principal and Leadership Team.
- Oversee and coordinate critical functions including finance, human resources, facilities, staff accommodation, and school support services, ensuring the smooth
and effective running of the school
- Demonstrate considerable autonomy and play an important role in providing advice which dictates business service delivery outcomes, inspires change and models best practice. Manage conflicting priorities to ensure strategic and sustainable business services outcomes.
- Work in a specialised environment, requiring the development of operational methods, policies, practices and standards to support the school's administrative function, and where problem resolution is frequent (demanding the conceptualisation, identification and development of ideas, detailed analysis of alternative courses of action and devising action plans to overcome the challenges of a complex school environment).
