To provide civil legal advice and litigation services to the State and its Agencies by acting as a litigious solicitor and counsel. This position has a particular focus on general civil litigation matters involving the State and its Agencies including, but not limited to: administrative matters, workers compensation, abuse in care matters, medical negligence, and general commercial litigation and (under direction) the development of practices, procedures and policies of the State Litigation Office.

Hours per fortnight

Duties
* To act as Solicitor and Counsel in routine and complex civil matters and appeals on behalf of the State of Tasmania, its instrumentalities and Agencies before a range of courts and tribunals.
* To provide comprehensive, accurate and timely advice to the State and its Agencies in respect of civil legal issues.
* To provide professional supervision, direction and instruction to junior legal practitioners.
* To undertake file reviews and perform other duties as directed by the Assistant State Litigator.
* Admitted or eligible for immediate admission as a Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.
* A Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (employment).
* At least 7 years' experience in legal practice relevant to the duties of the position.
