The Opportunity

HeliMods is offering a unique and newly launched internship opportunity for mechanical, aerospace, mechatronic, advanced manufacturing, process, and electrical engineering students who are eager to gain hands-on experience to complement their graduate or postgraduate studies. This paid program is specifically designed for those who want to develop practical skills in a real-world, high-performance aerospace environment.

If successful, you'll join our Engineering team posted within Advanced Manufacturing, contributing to the development and delivery of mission-critical aerospace products for civil and military clients. You'll work directly with aerospace-grade materials, cutting-edge manufacturing processes, and advanced inspection systems—building capability in areas that are essential to the future of aerospace engineering globally.

This is a rare opportunity to work inside one of the world's most advanced aerospace technology enterprises, where you'll be mentored by internationally experienced engineers and technicians, and gain exposure to our integrated model of digital engineering, production, and mission system integration.

Whether your passion lies in design, certification, CNC machining, composite layup, process engineering, or quality assurance, we'll tailor a development pathway that aligns with your interests and accelerates your technical growth. Unique to HeliMods, you'll rotate through key areas of the business including design, prototyping, certification, production engineering, advanced manufacturing work centres, and assembly. You'll be expected to contribute meaningfully, and you'll be supported by a team of motivated, talented, and experienced colleagues.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

* An in-progress bachelor's or postgraduate degree in mechanical, aerospace, mechatronic, advanced manufacturing, process, or electrical engineering.
* Completion of at least 2nd year studies (at a full-time rate).
* Strong initiative and problem-solving mindset.
* Curiosity and adaptability to explore new technologies and methods.
* Collaborative spirit and excellent communication skills.
* Structured approach to work and ability to thrive in autonomous environments.

A typical day on-site

Unlike many traditional engineering firms, our young engineers have an immediate impact in a broad range of areas with limitless potential to direct their growth over time. This includes:

* Contribute to the build and functional testing of integrated aircraft systems, supporting mission-critical configurations across rotary and fixed-wing platforms.
* Assist in the coordination and preparation of input materials, digital assets, and technical data packages required for aircraft systems assembly and certification.
* Operate advanced manufacturing equipment including CNC machines, composite tooling, and precision metrology systems to fabricate aerospace-grade components.
* Generate CAM toolpaths and perform dimensional verification using 3D scanning and inspection technologies.
* Conduct structured inspections and validation tests to ensure product quality, reliability, and compliance with engineering specifications.
* Investigate production anomalies through root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to enhance process robustness.
* Analyse and monitor production workflows using business analytics tools to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

What we need for you to proceed

1. An up-to-date resume with your most recent academic transcript attached at the end

2. A cover letter addressing why you feel you would be a good fit at HeliMods

3. Create a portfolio of your work, demonstrating your passion for design, technology and engineering (slideshow format, 3 slides, focus on graphical content - bonus points for extra-curricular activity), upload it to Google Drive, Github (or similar), and provide the link within your application.

Recruitment Process

* We are currently recruiting for Summer 2025 interns, Winter 2026 interns and Part-time/Casual roles.
* Please note there will be a 2 week break over the Christmas and New Year period (22/12-04/01).
* Applications will close on 21 November 2025 with shortlisting to take place immediately after.
* Final in-person interviews and assessments will occur in November and December.
