Our client is a state government department with a focus on providing highly effective health system leadership. An opportunity existing in a newly established business unit for a Manager of Governance and Risk contract until 8/3/2026 + possible extension.
Your new role
The Manager, Governance and Risk will lead and manage the provision of the governance and risk management function and services to enable successful delivery of large scale, ICT programs and projects aligned with the departments policy requirements. It manages and controls the program and project governance activities to enable effective management and decision making.
* Oversee and manage the provision of an effective program and project governance and risk management function and services.
* Develop and support implementation of a Risk Management Framework aligned with Department's best practice frameworks and relevant policies and standards.
* Co-ordinate risk documentation across delivery and prepare and present risk reports for senior executive and business areas to enable risk awareness, risk review and development of action plans in accordance with the Programs Risk Management Framework and process.
* Work in partnership with business and project managers and provide coaching, advice and support regarding risk identification, evaluation, treatment, reporting and escalation.
* Support and guide key stakeholders with processes, advice and tools for identification, analysis and management of risk and delivery of regular risk review workshops.
* Develop a program for the evaluation of risk maturity and continuous improvement across Programs.
What you'll need to succeed
* Demonstrated high level knowledge and skills in the development and conduct of program and project risk management and the coordination of the identification, assessment, management, reporting and review of risks, preferably in a large, complex, health service delivery organisation.
* Demonstrated skills and knowledge of the concepts and practices of strategic risk management and organisational analysis and improvement.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and present strategic risk management advice and to research, prepare and present complex reports, including consideration of the organisational context in the making of recommendations, in a diverse, client service delivery organisation.
* Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of program and project governance and reporting frameworks, tools and services in a large, complex service delivery organisation.
* Proven negotiation, consultation, facilitation and effective written and oral communication skills for use in a complex program/project environment.
