Position Summary
Responsibility for overall Golf Course Management, including the implementation of the Golf Course Management & Maintenance Program, to ensure the environmentally sustainable continuous improvement of the Golf Course.
General Requirements
* Work with the General Manager to help promote player satisfaction through maintaining a quality Golf Course and Maintenance program
* Management responsibility for all Maintenance Staff and Operating Budgets
* Works with the General Manager and other key staff members to constantly improve the golf course, club grounds, maintenance facility and all safety programs
* Thoroughly assist in all safety training needs and procedures
* Continues personal and professional Education through attending self-development, training and Turf Conferences
* Help schedule and supervise the daily operations of the Course Maintenance staff
* Train, motivate and supervise the staff in a capable manner
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
1. COURSE MAINTENANCE & PLANNING
To identify the strategies and actions required to meet the Course Maintenance objectives set by the Committee.
* Annual Course Maintenance Plan has been developed and presented to General Manager.
* Ongoing Management of staff levels, contractors, materials and time required to carry out course maintenance.
* Management of staff annual leave.
* A Capital Expenditure Budget maintained, and is consistent with a rolling program to replace and upgrade equipment where necessary.
* A month-by-month budget for chemicals, equipment maintenance and other items specified by the General Manager.
* Any other information necessary to complete the Course Budget and Maintenance Plan.
2. COURSE OPERATIONS ASTMA HR MANAGEMENT
To continuously improve and maintain the course in the highest quality condition.
* The annual Course Maintenance Plan has been carried out or major variances reported and explained.
* The budget for course expenditure and course works is accurate within a reasonable tolerance.
* Progress towards agreed objectives to improve quality (Course Report) has been reported to the General Manager by end of each month.
* Daily course maintenance has been recorded in an agreed manner and format.
* Tee markers and pins are moved daily in line with a predetermined program.
* Course signs, markers, pegs and flags have been maintained in good condition and/or replaced where necessary.
* Any damage to the course has been repaired within a reasonable timeframe. • Any damaged or faulty equipment has been repaired or replaced within a reasonable timeframe.
* All course policies have been complied with.
* Significant input has been provided towards the development and maintenance of occupational health and safety policies and the approved policies have been adhered to.
3. COURSE DEVELOPMENT PLANNING
Develop costings and a program for proposed Course Development work.
* Information on the cost of various materials, contractors and labour, and a recommendation on the timing of the work has been provided to the General Manager within the agreed timeframe.
4. COMMUNICATION WITH MEMBERS
To assist in keeping members informed of changing course conditions.
* Information for the Members’ Newsletter has been provided on time.
* Active liaison with members and participation in member information sessions regarding course management and development has occurred.
* Work or developments on the course that will affect play or are likely to be the subject of member enquiry or complaint have been reported to the General Manager in good time prior to work commencing.
5. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT ASTMA HR MANAGEMENT
To encourage Course Maintenance staff to develop a high level of skill and to employ those skills in their day-to-day work and to continually improve productivity and efficient work practices.
* Annual Performance Appraisals have been carried out and greenkeeping staff members have been given regular feedback on their performance and development.
* Staff members have been regularly consulted on improving maintenance practices.
* Staff members have been counseled where appropriate and this has been reported to the General Manager in a timely fashion.
* Training has been arranged or carried out to address identified training needs.
* Established human resource management policies have been followed.
6. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
To continually develop your knowledge of best-practice golf course management practices and techniques.
This key result will have been satisfactorily achieved when;
* Additional training and visits to agreed industry conferences and interstate and local courses have been planned and conducted and intended changes to chemicals or work practices as a result of the visits have been reported to the General Manager.
