Community Mental Health Practitioner

As a Community Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges to achieve their recovery goals and live independently.

This is a part-time position averaging 25–30 hours per week, working on a 24/7 rotating roster including night shifts, weekdays, weekends, and sleepovers.

* Deliver intensive person-centred, recovery-oriented support to help individuals work towards their wellbeing goals.
* Develop independent living skills and daily routines, build confidence to live safely in the community, and strengthen social and community connections.


Key Responsibilities:

* Support individuals to return to their community, live independently, and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
* Purposefully engage with individuals using techniques such as Brief intervention, Motivational interviewing and coaching, Family inclusive practice, Trauma informed practice, Conflict resolution.
* Plan and deliver group programs that aid individuals to build their skills and focus on recovery.
* Support family and carer roles through understanding their concerns and providing information, education, and referrals.
* Collaborate with various services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to individuals' recovery goals.
* Contribute to the day-to-day operations of the residential service through undertaking housekeeping duties.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

* Tertiary qualifications in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related fields.
* Minimum 12 months' experience working in a similar mental health role.
* Hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate and perform these duties as required.
* Expertise in working with individuals with mental health issues, complex needs, and interacting with families and carers.
* Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices, including risk mitigation, trauma-informed care, and family-inclusive practice.
