The Senior Engineer – Decant & Dewatering is responsible for supporting the Project Manager – Tailings to deliver the EVA greenfield Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) dewatering & decant systems. The position provides technical support and supervision throughout all project phases to ensure that designs meet specified engineering standards and operational requirements related to the tailings dewatering system and decant control.
This role will drive the development of the current dewatering system feasibility level design to optimise business outcomes considering facility staging and production profiles, quality requirements, construction methodologies, cost and schedule targets.
The position will report to the Project Manager – Tailings and work with peers including Senior Engineer – Embankments & Foundations, Senior Engineer – Deposition & Tailings Delivery and Senior Engineer – Projects.
The role will be based at our Brisbane project office during the design phase, with regular travel to site as required. The role will transition to site, with the option of DIDO from Cloncurry Area or FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville. The DIDO/FIFO roster is 14 days on, 7 days off.
This is a maximum term role aligned with project completion, anticipated to close on 31 May 2028.
Responsibilities
* Ensure work undertaken complies with scope and meets operational requirements.
* Prepare schedules for design work and obtain approvals for flow sheets and drawings.
* Obtain appropriate approvals and document calculations, specifications, variations, etc.
* Supervise work and ensure it meets quality, cost and time constraints.
* Monitor progress and identify potential problems in respect of budgets, schedules, engineering standards.
* Liaise with the Project Manager, design team, operations, service providers and other contractors on an ongoing basis.
* Ensure project teams operate in a safe and healthy manner.
* Resolve potential issues or refer them to the Project Manager.
Qualifications
* Essential: Engineering degree or equivalent in a related field (e.g., Geotechnical or Mechanical).
* Essential: Substantial experience (7+ years) in project engineering and management.
* Essential: Substantial experience (5+ years) in technical fields including tailings and piping.
* Sound understanding of engineering principles concerning slurry piping and tailings deposition planning.
* Experience in construction management and quality control requirements.
* Demonstrated excellence in safety leadership.
* Demonstrated experience in relationship-based contractor management.
