About This Opportunity

Join UQ's Medical School as Principal Specialty Supervisor, Indigenous Health Education and Engagement, a pivotal role within our Rural Clinical School. You will lead initiatives that embed Indigenous perspectives across the MD Program, foster cultural safety, and enhance learning experiences for students and staff.

Based at the Bundaberg Rural Clinical Unit and Central Queensland Learning Community, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student growth as part of the Medical School's Growth Strategy. Candidates with Elder status will have this recognition reflected in their title.

This is a teaching focused position.

About You

Genuine Occupational Requirement: The University of Queensland considers that to perform this role, it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld). The position is therefore only open to Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence to confirm that they are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre‐employment checks, including right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check. This may also include checks relating to gender‐based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.

Selection Criteria

* Collaborate in Indigenous and broader medical education scholarship or teaching and learning to enhance the quality of education design and student experience.
* Promote the involvement of Indigenous communities in research processes, ensuring that research outcomes are beneficial to those communities.
* Indigenous health, Indigenous health education, community engagement or Indigenous community development.
* Ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences, Medical School and the Medical Pathways within the community and with external partners.
* High level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues and the wider community.
* Passion for mentoring and developing the next generation of medical professionals.
* A commitment to and an understanding of the issues surrounding, living and working in a rural and/or regional area.

Additional Requirements for Level C

* PhD or equivalent experience, including cultural capital and expert knowledge in Indigenous health, Indigenous health education, community engagement or Indigenous community development.
* An established profile in clinical teaching and/or clinical research in the discipline area.
* Active participation in the development and continuous innovation of programs, curricula and/or course material in the discipline area.
