Wodonga Senior Secondary College

Wodonga Senior Secondary College is a government year 10 to 12 co‑education school located in Wodonga, Victoria.


Job Purpose

To contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of a quality Library service, which directly assists in the achievement of the college's goals and aligns with the school's continuous improvement approach.


Objectives

* To promote and encourage a library culture that is welcoming towards all students and staff
* Maintain effective lines of communication with all members of the school community
* To support the curriculum and recreational needs of the whole school community by providing a comprehensive range of resources and promoting effective and efficient use of these resources.
* To integrate the use of ICT into the library.
* To ensure administrative tasks are carried out in an appropriate and timely manner.
* To assist staff, students, parents and the local community by providing a high level of customer service.


Responsibilities

* Assist with the supervision of students before school, recess and lunchtime.
* Ensure students sign in when using the library during class time.
* Manage students using library space and daily library management.
* Follow instructions from the Library Coordinator.
* Respond to staff and student requests.
* Provide professional development to staff on a range of ICT issues.
* Supervise and manage the behaviour of students in the library.
* End‑process orders.
* Organise library spaces in preparation for events or activities.
* Provide information and research assistance to students and staff.
* Communicate and liaise with students, staff, parents and other members of the school community to determine their needs.
* Assist staff and students in locating and using relevant resources.
* Inform staff about resources that support the curriculum.
* Gather resources on specific topics as requested by staff.
* Assist staff and students in the use of library software.
* Maintain and develop the library's collection.
* Keep records of all resources and cataloguing up to date.
* Process new resources, sort and clear them.
* Maintain and promote audio‑visual collections and platforms.
* Carry out routine tasks in the library and wider school community.
* Enter data for books and other resources.
* Order resources, supplies and equipment for the library and other faculties.
* Operate the circulation desk.
* Maintain photocopiers and liaise with ICT technicians.
* Shelve books and other resources.
* Maintain general library tidiness.
* Conduct stocktaking.
* Provide supervision and training to staff and students.
* Supervise and train designated non‑teaching staff (e.g., trainees, work‑experience students).
* Assist students in learning library procedures.
* Identify own training needs.
* Monitor the library email inbox.
* Respond to all incoming emails in a timely manner.
* Follow up on requests and provide additional information to staff and students.
* Create displays and dynamic displays for relevant events or promotions.


Selection Criteria

* Qualifications in Libraries/Information Management or other relevant qualifications and or work experience.
* Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and ability to relate well with students/clientele to promote a safe and welcoming space.
* Demonstrated ability and experience working within a contemporary team environment effectively and efficiently.
* Proficient use of online digital platforms and subscriptions, with advanced expertise in the Microsoft Office Suite for efficient administrative and operational tasks.
* A commitment to professional learning and growth for both self and others.
