State Manager - Queensland / Trainer and Assessor at Track Protection Services
Track Protection Services (TPS) is expanding our Townsville team and we're looking for safety-focused, professional individuals to join us as Protection Officers.
This role is essential to delivering safe, compliant rail operations across Queensland. We welcome both experienced Protection Officers and new-to-industry applicants who are committed to building a career in safeworking. TPS provides structured training, mentoring, and ongoing support to help you succeed.
What success looks like in this role:
* Delivering safe, accurate, and compliant safeworking on every shift
* Communicating clearly with Network Control, supervisors, and work groups
* Demonstrating strong planning, risk assessment, and decision‑making
* Working reliably within a high‑performing team environment
* Upholding TPS's values, standards, and expectations at all times
You will play a key role in our operations and contribute directly to our strong reputation across Queensland's rail projects.
Responsibilities
* Implement and manage safeworking arrangements in accordance with Queensland Rail rules and procedures
* Conduct risk assessments and apply appropriate controls
* Maintain clear communication with crews and Network Control
* Complete safeworking documentation accurately and professionally
* Represent TPS on site with integrity and professionalism
* Support continuous improvement through safe behaviours and accurate reporting
* Work collaboratively across construction, maintenance, and project environments
* Work away from home on planned rosters for up to two weeks at a time
Qualifications & Skills
Mandatory:
* Current driver's licence
* Ability and willingness to work away from home for up to two weeks at a time
* Strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and procedural compliance
Experienced applicants:
* Queensland Rail Protection Officer competency (any level)
* Solid understanding of safe work planning and risk management
New‑to‑industry applicants:
* Willingness to learn and follow structured processes
* Strong communication skills and a proactive, reliable attitude
* High level of situational awareness and teamwork capability
Desirable:
* Current RIW card
* Experience in rail, construction, utilities, or other high‑risk environments
