PHARMACY ASSISTANTS (MULTIPLE POSITIONS – FRONT OF SHOP & DISPENSARY)
We're looking for multiple new Pharmacy Assistants to join our friendly and professional team at our independent community pharmacy in beautiful Richmond, Tasmania.
To grow our team, the positions that we're hiring for are:
1. Pharmacy Assistant (Front of Shop) – no experience necessary
* This position will suit someone who enjoys a customer-facing role, and who can be trusted to take ownership of their tasks in supporting the day-to-day retail operations of the pharmacy, consistent with Level 1–4 Pharmacy Assistant responsibilities under the Award. Experience would be great, but if you're a junior, we will help you with your training!
2. Dispensary Technician – experience essential
* This position will suit an experienced and qualified dispensary technician who is confident operating as the primary dispensary technician, taking ownership of the day-to-day dispensary workflow and supporting the pharmacist at a senior level, consistent with Level 3–4 Pharmacy Assistant (Dispensary) responsibilities under the Award.
Both positions are permanent full-time. However, for the right candidate, part-time hours are available, provided you are available to work at least ~30 hours per week.
About the 'Pharmacy Assistant (Front of Shop)' role (no experience necessary):
Your role & responsibilities:
* Deliver friendly and helpful customer service, assisting customers with product enquiries and over-the-counter sales.
* Maintain store cleanliness and merchandising standards.
* Intake prescriptions, operate the till and process transactions to assist the pharmacist with workflow.
* Receive and unpack stock deliveries, and enter invoices into our inventory system as required.
* Undertake stock control tasks, such as stock counting and date checking/rotation, as well as ordering.
* Provide support to the pharmacist as a key member of our small team, with the opportunity to learn some dispensary-based skills if you're keen.
* If you're starting out as a junior, we will provide you with the support you need to succeed in your role, with opportunities for career growth.
* If you're experienced and classified at a higher Award rate/classification, you can take on more responsibility in ensuring that our lovely pharmacy is kept running smoothly.

* Previous pharmacy, customer service or retail experience (helpful, but not essential).
* No qualifications are necessary, but they're certainly a bonus!
About the 'Dispensary Technician' role (experience essential):
Your role & responsibilities:
* Support the single pharmacist with dispensing by undertaking the role of primary dispensary technician, requiring you to accurately and efficiently prepare prescriptions using dispensing software (we use Z Dispense).
* Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the dispensary (with oversight from the pharmacist), as required.
* Manage the dispensary's stock, including ordering and stock control (with oversight from the pharmacist).
* Maintain a clean and organised dispensary workspace.
* Provide excellent customer service and support to patients.
* Liaise professionally with patients, prescribers and other healthcare providers, as required.
* Work collaboratively with the pharmacist to support the delivery of clinical and professional pharmacy services.
* Assist with training and guiding less experienced staff in dispensary processes, where required.
To be successful, you will have:
* Certificate III or IV in Community Pharmacy.
* Proven experience as a Dispensary Technician in a community pharmacy setting (minimum 1 year; senior experience strongly preferred).
* Competency with pharmacy dispensing software (e.g. Z Dispense, FRED, Minfos, LOTS, or similar).
* Strong working knowledge of PBS procedures, prescription processing, dispensary workflows and general pharmacy operations.
* Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of responsibility, and to work both independently and well with others.
* Strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for patient care.
* Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills.
* A professional, calm and reliable approach in a busy dispensary environment.

Availability Requirements:
* Full-time (38 hours per week).
* Part-time work arrangements may be available for the right candidate, provided you are available to work a minimum of 0.8 FTE with consistent days each week (i.e. minimum ~30 hours per week). This flexible option may suit someone looking for school hours.
