About the Role
The Queens Hotel Gladstone is seeking an experienced and motivated Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations. This is a full-time leadership position responsible for maintaining high food standards, managing the kitchen team, and driving consistent, profitable performance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead, train, and manage all kitchen staff and daily operations.
2. Plan, design, and update seasonal menus in line with venue standards and profitability targets.
3. Maintain high food quality, presentation, and consistency across all service periods.
4. Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships.
5. Monitor food cost percentages and implement strategies to meet budget targets.
6. Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations.
7. Coordinate kitchen rosters and labour costs in line with sales and operational needs.
8. Work closely with management to deliver promotions, events, and special functions.
Essential Requirements
* Mandatory qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or higher).
* Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience in a similar role.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
