Overview

The Role: The Education and Care Legislation and Intergovernmental Relations (ECLIR) unit is responsible for providing input into the ongoing development and review of the National Quality Framework for early childhood education and care services in Western Australia. In addition to the Director, there are three Senior Legislation and Strategy Officer positions within ECLIR to provide this function.

Senior Legislation and Strategy Officers are responsible for formulating policy and reviews and developing legislation related to the education and care services sector. More specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

* Formulating, reviewing and implementing new and amending legislation administered by the Department.
* Preparing Cabinet submissions, drafting instructions, EXCO papers and papers for the intergovernmental bodies in relation to new and amending legislation.
* Providing advice in response to requests from the Minister\'s Office, key stakeholders, members of the public and the media on matters related to the operation and interpretation of education and care legislation administered by the Department.
* Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Commonwealth Government, State Government agencies and education and care stakeholders.
* Representing the Department at interagency forums and workshops.

The Opportunity

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for future similar permanent and fixed term (full time) vacancies that arise within the next 12 months across the Department of Communities.
