The Currumbin Electorate Office is seeking a highly organised and community‑minded Assistant Electorate Officer (AEO) to join the team. In this role, you will provide direct support to the Member for Currumbin, Mrs Laura Gerber MP, and the Electorate Officer. You will contribute to the daily operations of the office, assisting with constituent services, stakeholder engagement, research, correspondence, media, and parliamentary processes. The position offers opportunities to work closely with local schools, Surf Life Saving Clubs, sporting organisations, community groups and government agencies, while supporting the effective representation of the electorate. Key Criteria * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and effective communications for diverse audiences. * Proven ability to engage respectfully and professionally with constituents, community organisations and businesses on matters related to state government services and policies. * Demonstrated strategic thinking, sound political judgement, and a strong record of meeting deadlines in high‑pressure environments. * Ability to undertake research, interpret legislation where required, and provide clear, structured recommendations. * Strong administrative capability, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience in database management. * Capacity to manage competing priorities, exercise accountability, and demonstrate initiative and problem‑solving skills. * Sound knowledge of parliamentary processes, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge. Key Responsibilities Administrative Support * Assist with management of the Member's diary, including scheduling appointments and coordinating meetings and events. * Support preparation of material for parliamentary responsibilities, including briefing notes, Questions on Notice and general research. * Maintain information systems to keep the Member informed of key matters when absent from the office. * Monitor local issues through media tracking and established networks. * Assist with media enquiries and the preparation of responses. * Support coordination of the Member's official travel, including liaising with Parliamentary Travel and preparing travel documentation. * Assist with record‑keeping and expense entry into the Parliamentary Acquittal System. Constituent and Community Engagement * Liaise with constituents, community groups and organisations in person, by mail or electronically, in line with office procedures. * Provide timely and accurate information on government services, programs and policies. * Support and maintain networks, including referral services and contacts within government departments and ministerial offices. * Undertake research on routine matters and assist with more complex constituent issues. * Assist with coordination of community meetings and events, such as local shows, stakeholder forums and community barbecues. * Attend community events and functions with, or on behalf of, the Member as required. * Assist with preparation and distribution of communications including correspondence, website updates, social media content, newsletters, surveys and other materials. General Office Administration * Support the maintenance of effective systems for storing, managing and retrieving information and documents. * Identify and report technical issues with office or security equipment, and assist during annual office stocktakes. * Order and procure office supplies and stationery as directed. * Undertake other general administrative duties as required by the Electorate Officer or the Member.
