Overview
Carpentaria Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (CLCAC) is seeking a permanent, full‐time environmental professional based in Cairns, Far North Queensland, with regular travel to the lower Gulf of Carpentaria region.
Responsibilities
* Support the development of Lower Gulf Region Rangers through innovative strategies and capacity building.
* Facilitate the integration of Traditional Ecological Knowledge with contemporary natural resource management practices and western science.
* Develop funding submissions and prepare program evaluation and milestone reports.
* Coordinate and monitor on‐ground environmental management activities, including data collection and reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
* Tertiary level qualification in Environmental Resource Management, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Fire Ecology, or equivalent.
* Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities and coordinating on‐ground resource management projects, preferably with Indigenous organisations in remote regions of Australia.
* Understanding of contemporary natural resource management issues in marine and terrestrial environments, combined with knowledge of traditional practices and western science.
* High level computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office; proficiency in GIS, Power BI, or related software is beneficial.
* Experience in project management, grant development, delivery, monitoring, and reporting.
* Blue Card or Positive Notice "Working with Children" (WCC), or ability to obtain one.
* Unrestricted right to work in Australia.
* Valid Australian C‐class manual driver's licence.
* Capacity to travel for up to two weeks at a time as required.
* Strong negotiation and consultation skills, and ability to work collaboratively with indigenous land managers, rangers and IPAs.
* Understanding of native title, land tenure and community governance.
* Relevant technical skills for ranger programs, such as fire and weed management, GIS, data collection, cultural mapping, plant and animal identification, and boating operations.
* Possession of a Coxswain Licence is highly desirable.

* Salary Range: $82,394 to $98,280 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
