The Supply Planning Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end supply planning process for capital equipment and related medtech products. This role ensures optimal inventory levels, high service performance, and efficient alignment between demand forecasts, production, procurement, and distribution. The position plays a critical role in supporting commercial objectives while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Role Purpose
The Supply Planning Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end supply planning process for capital equipment and related medtech products. This role ensures optimal inventory levels, high service performance, and efficient alignment between demand forecasts, production, procurement, and distribution. The position plays a critical role in supporting commercial objectives while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* 1. Supply Planning & Inventory Management
o Develop and execute supply plans aligned to demand forecasts and business targets
o Manage inventory levels across warehouses, field inventory, and consignment stock
o Optimize stock holding to balance service levels, working capital, and obsolescence risk
o Lead inventory reviews, including excess, slow-moving, and obsolete stock mitigation
* 2. Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP / IBP)
o Lead the supply planning input into S&OP / Integrated Business Planning processes
o Collaborate with Demand Planning, Sales, Finance, and Operations to align plans
o Identify supply risks and develop mitigation strategies
o Provide scenario planning and capacity analysis
* 3. Supplier & Production Coordination
o Work closely with global and regional manufacturing sites and suppliers
o Manage supply constraints, lead times, and production schedules
o Ensure continuity of supply for critical capital equipment and components
o Drive supplier performance improvements (OTIF, lead time, flexibility)
* 4. Logistics & Distribution Oversight
o Oversee inbound and outbound logistics planning for capital equipment
o Ensure efficient deployment of high-value equipment to customers and field teams
o Coordinate installation timelines and availability with service teams
* 5. Regulatory & Compliance
o Ensure supply chain activities comply with medical device regulations and quality standards
o Maintain traceability and documentation for capital equipment and components
o Support audits and quality system requirements (e.g., ISO, GMP where applicable)
* 6. Stakeholder Management
o Partner with Sales, Marketing, Service, Finance, and Regulatory teams
o Act as the key supply chain contact for capital equipment portfolio
o Communicate supply issues, risks, and resolutions clearly to stakeholders
* 7. Continuous Improvement
o Drive process improvements in planning systems, tools, and workflows
o Implement best practices in supply planning and inventory optimization
o Leverage data analytics and ERP systems to enhance decision-making
* 8. Team Leadership (if applicable)
o Lead and develop a team of planners or analysts
o Set objectives, manage performance, and build capability within the team
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
* Service level / OTIF (On-Time In-Full)
* Inventory turns and days of inventory
* Forecast vs supply plan adherence
* Backorder levels and stockouts
* Obsolescence and excess inventory
* Planning cycle adherence (S&OP milestones)
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
* 7–10+ years of experience in supply planning, preferably in MedTech, healthcare, or capital equipment
* Experience managing complex, high-value, low-volume product portfolios
* Strong understanding of S&OP / IBP processes
* Experience working with global supply networks
