About the role
Social Worker
The Social Worker delivers specialist psychotherapy to infants, children, and families, focusing on early parenting and development. The Social Worker provides assessments, case formulation, and referrals, while supporting and training staff and community on child wellbeing, relationships, and protection.
Psychologist
The Psychologist delivers early intervention services for infants and families, providing psychotherapy, assessments, and case formulation. The Psychologist supports staff and community through training and advice, collaborates in multidisciplinary teams, and contributes to quality improvement and child wellbeing.
Key duties of the roles
* Provision of psychotherapy for infants and caregivers and group work.
* Provide comprehensive assessment of referrals from referring professionals.
* Facilitate brief psychosocial referral pathways for existing therapy referrals.
* Provide a professional opinion regarding child development, psychosocial issues, child protection and other relevant matters.
* Thorough understanding of screening tools and their clinical application.
Skills and Experience
* Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification and general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Registration must be obtained prior to commencement in position.
* Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
* Experience in providing high quality individual and group therapy with parents and infants (0-3 years).
* Experience in working with families at moderate to high risk.
* Specialist knowledge of infant and child development, psychological and social issues affecting young children's development and in particular attachment theory and practice.
