About the role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Senior Business Development Manager to play a key role in driving distribution growth across a highly specialised insurance offering.

This is a strategic, relationship‐led role focused on deepening engagement across broker networks, identifying new market opportunities, and influencing how complex insurance solutions are positioned and delivered.

You will bring an established network, strong market credibility, and the ability to operate as a trusted partner to brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

* Lead and execute a strategic business development plan aligned to national distribution objectives
* Leverage existing broker and industry networks to originate and convert new business opportunities
* Build, manage, and deepen relationships with key broker partners, aggregators, and senior stakeholders
* Position complex insurance solutions through a consultative, value‐led approach
* Influence deal structuring in collaboration with underwriting and technical teams
* Drive broker engagement through targeted education sessions, presentations, and market‐facing initiatives
* Maintain ownership of a high‐quality pipeline, with disciplined forecasting and reporting
* Provide strategic market insights, including competitor activity, emerging risks, and distribution opportunities
* Represent the business at senior industry forums, events, and client engagements
* Ensure all activities align with regulatory requirements set by Australian Securities and Investments Commission and internal compliance frameworks

What we're looking for

* Minimum 10+ years' experience in insurance across business development, broking, or underwriting
* Strong, established broker network with the ability to generate opportunities through relationships
* Deep understanding of the Australian insurance market, including distribution and regulatory environment
* Demonstrated success in originating and closing complex or technical insurance placements
* Highly developed commercial acumen and negotiation capability
* Ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels
* Strong communication and presentation skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders
* Proven ability to influence internally and externally to achieve outcomes
* Experience in mentoring or informally leading others (advantageous)
* Relevant qualifications (e.g. Tier 1, Diploma of Insurance Broking)

* Pipeline health, velocity, and forecast accuracy
