**Role Summary**:
The Electrical Controls Specialist is a newly created opportunity based at our Kwinana or Pinjar Power Station site with routine visits to regional locations. The objective of the role is to support the electrical and controls systems on site ensuring reliable plant and equipment operation by developing and implementing strategies and processes that advance controls system automation, quality assurance and analysing current stat of Electrical/PLS/SCADA systems.
**Key responsibilities of the role include**:
- Ensure the reliability and availability of the electrical and control system assets used in control and monitoring of gas and diesel fired turbines, combined cycle and renewable energy and storage systems
- Develop and maintain asset management plans for Electrical, controls and instrumentation and SCADA assets
- Troubleshoot, maintain and advise on repair methods of plant related electrical, controls and instrumentation equipment for gas and renewable generation plant within the gas generation business unit
- Evaluate, plan, co-ordinate and implement control system upgrades and reliability improvement projects, including management of change
- Support the installation, programming, calibration and commissioning of various electrical, controls and instrumentation devices, including PLCs, servers, network switches, transmitters, power recorders, VSDs, UPSs, and microprocessor-based protection devices and equipment and review assets life cycle and implement strategies to tackle obsolescence issues through spare parts availability, major hardware replacement, and site capability improvement and upskilling of workforce
**What you'll bring**:
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation Engineering or relevant trades background in electrical and electrotechnology with a minimum of CERT IV in electrical and instrumentation
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in managing and supporting gas turbines and renewable plant industrial electrical, control systems and instrumentation equipment
- Competent in troubleshooting and maintaining various GE Speedtronic Control Systems MkIV/V/VI/VIe/VIes, Siemens S5/S7 PLCs, Allen Bradley Control Systems, ABB Advant, and SCADA based distributed control systems such as Cimplicity, Wonderware and Ignition
- Preferred competency in the design, installation, commissioning and programming of various PLC/DCS platforms, electrical safety and protection equipment, Smart devices and instrumentation
- Solid understanding and experience in control systems interface and integration with various platforms, including network configuration, topologies and communications protocols
