About the Position
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Trade Assistant / Yardperson to support our Townsville workshop team. You will assist tradespeople and welders, operate machinery, maintain yard and workshop organisation, and ensure all operations are carried out safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Assist tradespeople and workshop leadership with day-to-day tasks.
Move, load, and store steel and materials safely in the yard.
Operate forklifts and load steelwork on trucks, in line with safety regulations.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop and storage yard.
Check deliveries, complete loading manifests, and liaise with dispatch coordinators.
Assist with machinery operation, tooling preparation, and maintenance tasks.
Perform general labour tasks including preparation, cleaning, stock checking, and supporting quality assurance.
Follow all WHS procedures and actively participate in a safe workplace culture.
Complete time recording, timesheets, and job tracking accurately.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Experience as a trades assistant or labourer, preferably in an industrial or engineering workshop.
Current MR Truck licence.
Ability to operate trucks and forklifts safely.
Strong teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude.
Construction Induction Card (White Card).
