At Rex Software, we're passionate about building innovative technology that empowers the real estate industry across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a commercially minded Management Accountant to join our Finance team.
This is a remote/hybrid opportunity, offering flexibility while remaining closely connected to a collaborative and high-performing finance function. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning data into insight, partnering with the business, and supporting strong financial decision-making as Rex scales.
What You'll Do
As our Management Accountant, you'll focus on reporting, analysis, forecasting and commercial insight. You'll work alongside the Financial Accountant as a peer, with distinct but complementary responsibilities, and report to the Head of Finance.
Your key responsibilities include: Management Reporting & Analysis
* Prepare monthly management reporting, including P&L analysis, cost centre performance and variance analysis versus budget and prior periods, with clear commentary on key drivers
* Deliver decision-useful insights for senior leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities and emerging trends
* Analyse trends across revenue, costs, headcount and margins to support informed decision-making
* Maintain and enhance financial models and reporting frameworks as the business grows
* Own the calculation, validation and reporting of sales commissions
* Ensure commission outcomes are accurate, transparent and aligned to approved plans
* Partner with Sales and Finance to resolve commission queries efficiently
* Support forecasting of commissions and sales-related costs
Cost Management & Forecasting
* Monitor operating and staff costs, identifying inefficiencies, cost creep and opportunities for improvement
* Analyse staff costs, including salaries, commissions, incentives and on-costs, with clear drivers and trends
* Maintain cost, headcount and staff cost models as core inputs into budgeting and rolling forecasts
* Provide insights into productivity, scalability and relevant benchmarking to support workforce planning decisions
Budgeting & Forecasting
* Support the annual budgeting process, including detailed cost and staffing models
* Maintain rolling forecasts incorporating actuals, updated assumptions and scenario analysis
* Identify emerging variances and risks early and recommend corrective actions
* Improve forecast accuracy and financial discipline over time
* Prepare and validate data to support pricing waves, including customer segmentation, pricing scenarios and impact analysis
* Work with the Strategy Analyst to support execution of the approved pricing strategy
* Coordinate with the billing team to ensure pricing changes are accurately implemented in billing systems
* Support post-implementation review of pricing waves, including analysis of outcomes versus expectations
Month-End & Finance Team Support
* Provide support to the finance team during month-end close where required
* Assist with analysis, reconciliations and reporting to support a timely and accurate close
* Work collaboratively with the Financial Accountant to improve month-end processes
* Support month-end delivery without becoming the primary owner of close activities
What We're Looking For
* Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
* CPA or CA qualified (or working towards)
* Strong management accounting or commercial finance experience, ideally in a SaaS or subscription-based business
* Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into insight
* Experience with sales commissions and incentive structures
* Comfortable partnering with non-finance stakeholders
Why Join Us?
At Rex Software, we live by our values Can Do, As One, For You. We're a collaborative team that values accountability, curiosity and impact. In this role, you'll enjoy:
* Hybrid working flexibility
* Exposure to commercial decision-making in a scaling SaaS business
* A clear peer relationship within Finance, with room to grow
* The opportunity to materially improve how the business understands performance
