Royal North Shore Hospital is a principal tertiary referral hospital for Northern Sydney Local Health District providing a comprehensive range of complex services to patients from across NSW. It has a strong and proud history in education, research and provision of high quality clinical care. Royal North Shore Hospital provides specialty services including major trauma, severe burns, spinal cord injuries, neonatal intensive care, bone marrow transplantation, neurosurgery and interventional neuroradiology alongside acute medical, surgical, mental health, paediatric, cancer and maternity services.
The campus is also home to The Kolling - a medical research institute jointly governed with the University of Sydney
**What you'll be doing**
The primary purpose of the role of Medical Administration Trainee is to provide administration, management and leadership of clinical and medical services, under supervision, whilst undertaking the training program of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA).
Medical Administration Trainees learn and develop expertise in health systems governance and performance, health law and ethics, health economics and health care financing, clinical informatics, health care organisation, medical workforce and human resource management, communication and collaboration with diverse and sometimes conflicting stakeholders, medical education, research, strategy and change management.
The role supports the provision of patient care through enhanced communication, coordination of clinical services, and management of workforce matters related to medical staff. The incumbent will work with senior clinicians and managers and undertake a range of operational management, system and process review and policy development duties.
Trainees are assigned a RACMA Preceptor and at least one training supervisor who is a specialist medical administrator (FRACMA), the arrangements for which may alter according to training needs over the duration of the appointment, in order to be exposed to a variety of supervisors and leadership styles. The incumbent will participate in ongoing performance review processes in line with College training and hospital performance review requirements.

- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Evidence of ability to develop across the continuum from novice to master, i.e. participation in term assessments and reports for new trainees, or RACMA based reports for existing trainees.
- Ability to demonstrate high levels of enthusiasm, initiative, flexibility, time management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to gather information, analyse data and provide reports with appropriate recommendations.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally to a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to demonstrate the CORE values of NSW Health, namely Collaboration, Openness, Respect, and Empowerment.
- Demonstrated interest in and commitment to key areas of Medical Administration responsibilities such as quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, management and clinical governance.
**Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases**
To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy PD2024_015, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
