About the Role
Join our dynamic team at the Human Genome Informatics Initiative (HGI) as Project Manager and play a pivotal role in shaping Australia's contribution to responsible human genomics and omics data sharing and analysis. As an experienced individual, you will support the team in the development and delivery of cutting-edge digital infrastructure projects, including the Human Genomes Platform Project and the Australian Cardiovascular Disease Data Commons Project. Collaborating closely with renowned Australian institutions and organisations, you'll play a critical role in planning and monitoring project timelines, budgets, and resources, as well as fostering strong relationships with multiple stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
4. Driving project planning, implementation, and delivery of the HGI portfolio through the application of appropriate project management approaches;
5. Monitoring project progress, budgets, and risks, and maintaining comprehensive project documentation.
6. Fostering cross-functional collaboration, building strong relationships, and identifying and addressing any impediments to project delivery.
7. Contributing to stakeholder engagements and communicating effectively with multiple groups, including project sponsors, delivery partners, and steering committees on various aspects of project progress and delivery.
Who We Are Looking For
You possess strong project management knowledge and expertise, combined with effective interpersonal and engagement skills to bring multiple partners, stakeholders and project activities together and, ultimately, deliver robust project outcomes.
You will also have:
8. Appropriate tertiary-level qualifications or progress towards qualifications in project management, and/or at least 5 years’ relevant project management experience, with proven capacity to apply a range of project management tools and approaches.
9. Experience working with distributed teams and collaborators.
10. Ability to plan, implement, monitor, and deliver projects within time and budget constraints.
11. Ability to handle situations that require initiative, independent judgement, and consultation with senior stakeholders.

Australian BioCommons is an NCRIS-funded research infrastructure entity designed to enhance life science research through the provision of national-scale digital infrastructure. We are hosted by and co-located with Melbourne Bioinformatics based at the University of Melbourne within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Sciences (MDHS) in Parkville. Melbourne Bioinformatics is comprised of experts in software development and bioinformatics support researchers who recognise that life science research is fast becoming a data science, helping them with research design and grant applications, advising on computing options, engaging in deep research collaborations, developing bioinformatics algorithms and software, creating and delivering both online and hands-on bioinformatics training, and running the MSc (Bioinformatics) course, as well as supervising PhD students.
