HS&E Supervisor – PPM Projects (Contract Role)

Overview
PPM is seeking a capable and safety-driven Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Supervisor to join our Berth and Commodity Handling Projects delivery team. This is a pivotal role in supporting the safe execution of major infrastructure works in a dynamic construction environment.
You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team under the guidance of the Project Manager and Project Controls Manager to embed a proactive safety and environmental culture across the project.
Responsibilities
* Safety & Environmental Leadership – Promote and uphold safety-first principles across all construction activities.
* Maintain awareness and compliance with HS&E management plans.
* Implement and govern project-specific HS&E documentation and systems.
* Actively monitor construction activities and support the project team with incident management and safety improvement initiatives.
* Governance & Compliance – Support preparation and review of HS&E documentation including SWMS, JSEAs, and subcontractor safety plans.
* Facilitate site inductions and contractor compliance tracking.
* Assist in incident investigations and close-out processes using PPM systems.
* Audit contractor safety documentation and project compliance.
* Planning & Delivery Support – Maintain and update HS&E Management Plans and project governance documents.
* Collaborate closely with engineering and construction teams to review risks and apply mitigation measures.
* Participate in risk assessments, environmental reporting, and stakeholder coordination.
Essential Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience in construction, with 2+ years in a dedicated HS&E role.
* Proven experience working on civil construction projects.
* Strong understanding of Australian Safety & Environmental Regulations.
* Qualifications in Work Health and Safety (Cert IV or Diploma preferred).
* High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project) and a working understanding of scheduling.
Desirable Attributes
* Previous experience facilitating safety training and inductions.
* Demonstrated ability to lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
* Experience working with multi-contractor environments on major infrastructure projects.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently within project deadlines.
