What is the role?

An exciting opportunity exists to launch your career in the AFP and support the frontline through joining the Central Procurement Team as a Business Support Officer. We are a client driven service delivery team that is expanding to deliver end-to-end procurement services to the business. We are a customer focused team that is looking for enthusiastic and self-driven individuals to enhance our position of trusted partners to the AFP's frontline. Previous experience within a procurement setting is not required, we are looking for people who have experience in a customer service environment as we believe the skills you have obtained in these roles are transferrable into our customer focused team. Investment in our people is important to us, training including a nationally recognised qualification in procurement will be offered to the successful applicants. As a Business Support Officer – Procurement within the AFP, you will:

What will you do?

The role responsibilities include:

* Provision of dedicated end-to-end procurement services to various portfolios within the AFP.
* Assisting drafting and review of request for quotes, spending proposals and contracts under supervision.
* Undertaking a quality assurance process on all procurement and contract documentation.
* Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Assisting in the interpretation of legislation, policies and procedures and escalating when required.
* Undertaking administrative duties associated with procurement and contracting services.
* Contributing to improved operational practices, procedures and guidelines.

Essential Requirements
* You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
* A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
* Demonstrated experience in dealing with and building relationships with stakeholders.
* Experience in client-customer focussed roles.
* Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.
Additional Information
* This is an AFP Band Level 4 position.
* The successful applicants will receive on the job training as well have the opportunity to undertake a Certificate IV in Procurement in the first 12 months.
* The roles are ideally based in Canberra, however consideration to work in one of the AFP's national office locations may be negotiated;
* We support flexible work arrangements, however it is expected that the successful applicants will work from the office at least 2-3 days per week for team connectivity and collaboration;
* Due to expected high volume of applicants, feedback will only be available to those applicants that progress to the interview stage.
