About the Role
We are seeking a professional and reliable Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of staff, patients, visitors, contractors, assets, buildings, and the surrounding environment. This role requires a strong on‑site security presence, proactive monitoring, and effective incident response within a healthcare environment operating 24/7.
You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment while upholding organisational policies, procedures, and values.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct regular security patrols across internal and external areas
* Observe and monitor for security risks, hazards, and suspicious behaviour
* Respond to incidents and code responses promptly and professionally
* Monitor CCTV systems as required
* Report, investigate, and document incidents and escalations
* Prepare detailed shift, incident, and situation reports
* Maintain security of entry points and hospital facilities
* Provide escorts to staff, patients, and visitors when requested
* Perform patient special observations when directed by authorised staff
* Assist with crowd control, traffic control, perimeter breaches, and welfare checks
* Ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures
* Deliver professional, courteous, and respectful service at all times
* Participate in training and professional development activities
General Responsibilities

* Take reasonable care for personal health and safety and that of others

Key Selection Criteria
* Current Victorian‑approved Security Licence
* Current First Aid Certificate
* Valid Working with Children Check
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
* Proven ability to de‑escalate conflict and manage challenging situations
* Ability to work independently and within a team with minimal supervision
* Reliable, honest, and customer‑focused approach
* Ability to meet physical and operational job demands
* Availability to work a 24/7 rotating roster
Desirable
* Experience working in security within a healthcare environment
* Experience using security and computer‑based systems
Mandatory Requirements
* National Police Record Check (satisfactory prior to commencement)
* Valid Working with Children Check
* Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme (DWES) Check (where applicable)
* Compliance with healthcare worker immunisation requirements
* Current Victorian Driver's Licence
* Commitment to smoke‑free workplace policies
