Fitzroy Scout Group is looking for an Assistant Group Leader to join our current team.
Working closely with the Group Leader, in this leadership role, you will be trained to support section leaders to run and organise a program of adventurous and educational activities for kids aged 8-10 and 11-14, including camps, weekly activities, outdoor adventures and practical learning. You will also work closely with the Group Support Committee who oversee the fundraising, finances and operations of the Scout Group.
You will make the Scout Promise and be invested with a uniform and scarf as a member of the worldwide scout movement. You will join a diverse team of adults, including youth and parents and will find friendship and community.
You will have opportunities to develop your leadership and teamwork skills, and can work towards professional qualifications (such as Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or Certificate IV in Coordination of Volunteer Programs) through your Scouts training, via the Scouts Australia Institute of Training.
Fitzroy Scout Group is fortunate to have a strong team of leaders and are an example of how a community and the Scouting movement can work together for our youth. The Group also has a specific focus on supporting young people living in public housing to access the development opportunities of Scouting, through reducing economic barriers to participation.

Time commitment is quite flexible. The Group Support Committee meets once per month on a Wednesday night. Additional work is likely 2-3 hours per week, but the exact timing is varied.
May sometimes involving supporting weeknight programs on Tuesday and Thursday nights, or weekend activities, but this can be arranged around your availability and would not be compulsory.

Compulsory E-Learning Modules (including Child Safe) and residential training weekend aimed at teaching Scouting skills and our educational method. First Aid training available but not compulsory. Other training, according to your aspirations within the organisation.
