About the role:
The Integrated Women's Health Hub – South Cairns has been established under Wuchopperen Health Service as part of the Queensland Government's Women's and Girl's Health Strategy.
The Hub provides women and girls access to health and health related care and support through a safe women friendly space with the simplicity of service navigation, provision of flexible holistic care, and free services provided by a diverse workforce.
The Coordinator will have operational responsibility for the Hub and will oversee the coordination of all clinical and non-clinical services.
This position has supervisory responsibilities of a multidisciplinary team including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Registered Nurses, General Practitioners, Administration Officers, Mental Health and Social, Emotional Wellbeing Workers.
The Coordinator will oversee the delivery and evaluation of women's health initiatives in alignment with program objectives and funding requirements.
The position is responsible for the effective operational coordination of staffing, financial, and material resources to support high-quality service delivery.
This role reports directly to the Practice Manager, Jalbu Hub.
Key responsibilities:
Coordinate the day-to-day client flow throughout Jalbu Hub ensuring that the focus is on meeting the health and wellbeing needs of clients, including delivery of specialist clinics, services and program activities.
Monitor the Communicare system and work collaboratively with Clinical and Administrative staff to ensure that clinical and non-clinical services for clients are coordinated in a timely manner.
Monitor staff service delivery including data entry, reporting and support with training in accordance with service delivery, data and contract requirements.
Assist clinical staff to identify and support clinical practices and education to support clients need who present at the hub.
Develop effective internal and external working relationships to ensure effective outcomes for clients, including developing and maintaining appropriate networks and partnerships with local stakeholders and mainstream services to improve clients accessing the health system.
Coordinate case conference discussions, to effectively coordinate client care planning, and service delivery with a focus on continuity of client care, managing referrals both in and out to ensure access to appropriate services.
Support the Practice Manager with the recruitment of Jalbu Hub staff and when required provide mentoring and support for staff to ensure the team is developed and trained to carry out their duties, including provision of appropriate supervision and implementation of performance reviews.
When needed provide direct clinical care to clients within a comprehensive primary health care context including screening, treating and assisting with the diagnosis of health conditions and medical emergencies, or referring to a Registered Nurse or Medical Officer.
Gather and record statistical data relevant to measuring performance against agreed indicators and participate in review and evaluation activities.
Participate in organisational and community activities to advance the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Work within Wuchopperen's Policies and Procedures including the Staff Code of Conduct and the Work Health and Safety requirements and contribute to continuous improvement processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and safe, effective service delivery.
For applicants to be successful in this role, they should demonstrate:
Demonstrated knowledge of comprehensive primary health care within a community-based health setting, Certificate IV or higher in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice and at least three (3) years of clinical practice experience combined with educational qualifications and the ability to effectively translate the principles of the Queensland Women and Girls Strategy **** into practical, meaningful action.
Knowledge and understanding of the diverse needs, backgrounds and experiences of women, including the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and women from a wide range of cultural, social and linguistic backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and provide guidance to team members, including supervision and performance reviews, in the delivery of clinical and non-clinical services to clients.
Extensively developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability liaise with a broad range internal and external stakeholders, and effectively advocate for the health and wellbeing needs of women and girls.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment, prioritise and meet deadlines, deal with matters of a sensitive and confidential nature.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the administration of organisational policies and procedures, together with the capacity to coordinate staffing and other resources in the delivery of primary health care.

Qualifications and experience:
Certificate IV or higher in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice, or, Diploma in Business Management, and at least three (3) years of clinical or leadership experience in a similar role.
Or relevant Diploma in Business Management or higher qualification and at least three years leadership experience in a similar role.
Requirements:
Hold a current Blue Card (for suitability to work with children and young people).
Proof of qualifications is required to be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
Possess a current driver's licence.
A commitment to adhere to Wuchopperen's policies and procedures.
