What you'll be doing
The objective of the Manager, Pricing Strategy role is to optimise group revenue through effective pricing strategies, whilst ensuring that all team activity is consistent with a whole-of-network approach to maximising revenue. This role will collaborate and influence within Revenue Management and across the business to deliver the most effective and efficient pricing outcomes.
Further responsibilities:
* Lead and develop domestic, short haul international, and O&D pricing strategy;
* Setting, reviewing and modifying optimal pricing levels for all journey groups for multiple points of sale;
* Planning tiered selling campaigns with key internal and external stakeholders;
* Drive innovation and pricing transformation within the RM team by challenging existing work practices and rolling out key transformation initiatives;
* Ongoing monitoring of competitor pricing and proposing reactive strategies;
* Work closely with the Pricing Distribution & Development team to clear, efficient and effective delineation of pricing vs fares distribution.
* Proposing and implementing strategies and tactics to achieve prevailing departmental and company budgetary goals;
* Work closely and collaboratively with the Inventory teams to ensure strategies are aligned between inventory and pricing;
* Work with the Commercial Analytics team to implement pricing reporting that can complement the inventory reporting for improved decision making, leading to improved revenue.
* Coordinating post-sales analysis and reporting of key selling campaigns;
* Maintaining an up-to-date sales and marketing calendar of forthcoming promotional activity;
* Keep accurate and up to date documentation on status of current, proposed and expired initiatives;
* Provide pricing input into key commercial transformation projects (e.g. Fare Brands) or contracts (e.g. Sales COS Models, SPA's) that are being led by counterparts across the airline.
* Work closely and in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders (Marketing, Sales, Direct Digital & Distribution, Fares Distribution, Inventory Distribution etc) to ensure distribution systems (GDSs, OTA's, OBT's, IBE etc) are reflecting accurate pricing and solve/address challenges and create strategies to maximise strategies through each channel.
* Actively contribute to the department at all levels;
* Lead the team with knowledge and implement effective development plans, actively manage, engage and motivate immediate team members;
You'll be great in this role if you have…
* Tertiary qualification in economics, a business discipline or equivalent is desirable but not essential
* Experience in a commercial airline area such as pricing, revenue management, sales or business insights
* Leadership experience and the ability to develop and mentor other team members
* Deep understanding of pricing and inventory principles and how to practically apply these
* Up to date knowledge of VA's markets, airline partnerships competitors.
* Strong ability to manage healthy relationships with stakeholders from other teams, as well as influence outcomes
